Meet the Founder - Nakapan

With over 30 years of experience in martial arts—and 15+ years as a school owner—Nakapan created the Black Belt Syndicate to give other academy owners what he wished he had when starting out: real mentorship, a supportive community, and proven systems for long-term success.

Nakapan is a 4th degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, a seasoned Muay Thai instructor, and the founder of BETA Academy, one of the largest and most respected martial arts schools in Washington, D.C. His mission is to help others lead, grow, and share martial arts on a global scale—without losing what makes their school special.

Can I train at BETA Academy HQ in Washington, DC?

Yes! Affiliate members and instructors and staff members are welcome to train at our headquarters. Visiting students of affiliate schools are also welcomed to train with advance notice.

Do I have to leave my current affiliation to join?

Not at all. The Black Belt Syndicate is open to all martial arts schools from all affiliations. Our goal is to support your growth—not replace your lineage, team, or community.

Will you sign off on IBJJF promotions and memberships?

Yes. We provide official rank recognition and support IBJJF belt promotions and certification for eligible instructors and students.

Do I have to follow your curriculum exactly?

No. Our curriculums are flexible and modular. You can integrate them fully, use them to strengthen your current programs, or adapt them to match your school’s unique style.

What if I only teach one discipline, like Muay Thai or BJJ?

That works perfectly. You can choose a tier that fits your program focus. Foundations is ideal for single-discipline schools, and Masters/Champions support multi-program academies.

Can I cancel at any time?

We ask for a 12-month commitment to ensure you're supported through real growth. That said, if life circumstances change, we’re human—reach out and we’ll work with you. However, we know that with our guidance and your commitment to implementation, you'll get multiple times your return on investment.
